I’ve been beating myself up a little bit about the fact that I have a list as long as my arm of topics to cover, and even more things to say about all the subjects I want to write about, but yet finding the time has been tough! Blah blah blah… My intention for Girl Moss was never to put too much pressure on it, it simply is a space for me to through my thoughts on paper and share them (yes these are the inner workings of my mind).
In the spirit of trying to be consistent, but mostly for no other reason other than I enjoy doing it, I have created “The List”. A simple list of things I'm currently loving, and currently coveting! None of these are sponsored, although I should be, these are just genuine things I have tried and loved, or am hoping to get my hands on… And let's be honest, a little light hearted content between the intense thought provoking essays might just be what this page needs!
Currently Loving
This is a story of love at first sight… Chopova Lowena are famous for their incredible skirts (which at some point will end up in the currently coveting because they are truly unique pieces of wearable art), however there’s a lot to be said for their knitwear. If I had to describe my ideal wardrobe in a few words it would be “elevated goth”, and this cardigan slots perfectly into this niche. Soft and silky black mohair, with overly long sleeves just like the grunge 90’s sweaters I had, and the frenzy of tartan bows which make it a bit “sciura” but without taking it too far. They said goth was just a phase, but here I am at the intersection of Fiona Goode and Evanescence.
I have to confess I have an addiction to lip balm, don't laugh, I can't leave the house without it. My mother is the same so I picked it up from her, and after 30 odd years of slapping petroleum jelly, beeswax and other numerous salves on my lips, I can confidently say there is no other lip balm like Laneige. I'm coming up to my one year anniversary with my Vanilla tub (the only one for me), but it comes in a variety of fruity flavors, so pick your poison. You’ll thank me later.
So if you know me, you’ll have heard me banging on about Loop earplugs for the last 3 years, which funnily enough coincides with the same amount of time my daughter has been earth side! I now own 4 pairs, and recently received the Loop Experience set (gifted by my genius sister who can explain in more depth the science behind sound sensitivity and all that). Truly there is no going back. I will say if you’re needing to interact with others whilst still minimizing the noise, perhaps try the Loop Engage, but I’ve found a great deal of joy in protecting my peace by ignoring everyone and blaming my earplugs for it :)

Simone Rocha x Crocs:
I hate to tell you this, but this list might eventually turn into an ode to Simone Rocha, because there isn't a moment where I’m not coveting something from her. The positioning of the crystals and pearls which adorn the white chunky heeled crocs is ceremonial and turns these clunky clogs into a modern day Cinderella slipper. Which is what Simone is a master of: modern femininity. Obsessed is an understatement.
When it comes to skincare, less is more for me. I'm a bit of a hippy, and a bit fussy. I only really use a Rosehip or Gotu Kola oil, a lot of hydrosols to maintain moisture but also to infuse herbal properties into the skin (Frankincense and Chamomile are usually my favorite but I could write a book about this if you like?) and then a very few serums. I’ve spent stupids amount of money on “cult” products (cue Vintner's Daughter which I truly wanted to love after, particularly after spending £200 on a botanical mist that was just ok), and most of the time I find I’m left wanting more bang for my buck. So here enters my holy grail brand: Marie Veronique.
There’s a whole episode with Kristina Holey who co-created a line with the brand, where you can get an in-depth understanding of their holistic approach to skincare. Personally it's the fusion of scientific backing, whilst embracing traditional medicine approaches too. I have been a big fan of this Vitamin C serum which really helped with brightening my postpartum melasma, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this Retinol which hopefully will solve all of my life's problems.
Admittedly I’ve never been an Erdem girlie. I don’t think I’m quite feminine enough for the delicate floral silhouettes they usually create. However, this last season's collection inspired by Deborah Cavendish and her archives of vintage textiles, which she used to restore a crumbling Chatsworth house, is something quite special. The opening look, the one I’m coveting, is a collaboration with Barbour which features the remains of a chintz curtain which used to hang at Chatsworth house. All I want to do is be out in my garden, pulling out weeds, sowing seeds, in my Erdem x Barbour coat. Now is that really too much to ask?
